You know, I was thinking about this and about Cora being alive and Derek having thought she was dead.
And it says on the official Fire Department report of the fire that 8 family members of the Hale family died in the fire.
But I remember, I think it was in 1x04 that Derek said that 11 people died in that fire (correct me if I’m wrong), and so either that was a continuation error (which wouldn’t surprise me, because this show has a quite a bit of those) or there were 11 people - does that include Peter? Because Derek might not have counted Peter, so that could have actually been 12 people - in that basement. And for all we know, Derek and Laura might not have stuck around town long enough for them to do the official body count, then find the remaining Hales and tell them the body count and who they’ve identified via dental records and stuff.
So Derek and Laura could have thought all their family died, where it’s possible 2 or 3 could have survived.
So there’s Cora, and maybe another Hale or two made it out or just wasn’t in the house when it happened? I don’t think it could be Talia, I think she’s definitely dead, because Laura became the Alpha.
But what if Cora went off on her own in the woods, and then came home as the fire started burning and because she was a 10/11 year old girl, she got scared and ran off?
And it makes me think that what if Peter saw that she wasn’t there and knew or at least suspected she was still alive? Or what if she was and somehow got out without him noticing, or she got out after he did so himself?
What if Talia had just enough life left in her to get her daughter out of the basement and safe, and maybe another Hale or two?
What if Cora had come back to the fire after being out in the woods and Peter had escaped it and she was watching her family burn and screaming, crying, and Talia had enough life left in her to scream at her daughter to run, and to keep running, to be safe?
What if Peter knew the whole time that she was alive? Or what if he knew but the fire burned away the his memory of seeing or knowing she’d survived?
UGH, just so many questions!
Or it could have just been a continuation error and I should just wait and see how the hell Cora survived.
